Circulation Menu  > Date specific reservations (Booked Reservations)

Overview:The program allows you to create a Reservation that becomes active at a specific future date. To create the Reservation, you need to know the Patron,  and Item details and the date when the Patron wishes to collect the book. Control entries specify the length of time prior to the pick up date, where the book is quarantined, and Reservation Collection notices are issued. These type of Reservation entries take precedence over other type of Reservation entries.

These type of Reservation entires can only be lodged against a specific copy number. A specific copy number can be either entered as a / Copy number or Space, copy number string after an entered Accession number, or by scanning a Barcode.

To change the date of an existing Booked Entry, just call up the same Paton and Item details, enter the changed date, and press the "Process" button. This action will change the previous entry.  Note that a Patron cannot reserve the same item twice.

Patron code or Barcode: Enter either the Patron code or scan in the Patron barcode. After entry, press the <TAB> key. This forces the system to lookup the entry. Otherwise, you can also click on the Search button. The screen will refresh, and the Reservation details for that patron will display. The Patron address details will be visible when the mouse pointer hovers over the envelope icon.

Find Patron: Clicking the Find Patron link will pop-up another window where a user is able to enter the full or part surname for the patron they wish to find (eg. can type Smith or Smi). Based on the text entered, a list of results that begin with the entered text eg. smi may begin with Smids and end with Smithson, whereas Smith may begin with Smith and end with Smithson. Once the desired patron has been found, click on the name and hit the Select button.

Find Item: Uses the OPAC search facility, click find item and an All Fields Search box will appear for the user to enter text. Once the required item has been found, click Select to register the Accession Number on the previous screen. Otherwise, enter the Barcode of the Item. The screen will refresh showing all Reservation details for the Catalogue entry. Note that the details show the actual copy number as a suffix to the Accession number.

Date: Enter the date when the Patron wishes to collect the Item
