Bulk Deletion
: Used to indicate the removal of items from a library’s collection. The user has 3 options for entering this data:Remove Accession Entries with Zero Copies: This process removes all Catalogue entries that contain ZERO copies, and are not part of an Inter Library loan request. All deleted catalogue entries are archived in an ascii file called matlog.
Bulk Update: This function allows the user to update data across many records within LMSi. As an example, if a Sub-GMD field was named Junior, but it was then decided that it should be re-named Child, Bulk Update can be used to update all items previously associated with the Sub-GMD Junior to now be related to Child. Another example would be for correcting the mis-spelling of an Author’s name.
Select the field that contains the data to be modified, enter the existing text, then enter the updated value you wish to insert. Click Process to update the database.
Import Data: LMSi can update your library’s database using external data in either AOL List or Usmarc format. The external data needs to be structured in a format that LMSi is able to read. This basically means that the fields being used in the external data need to match the fields that your library uses with LMSi.
Select the data source then click on Browse to access your local directory structure. Click on the file containing the data that is to be updated and click open. If the “Print an input file listing” is checked, a report is generated listing all data that has been updated to LMSi. The “Turn on learning mode?” option will enable the user to associate and re-name additional fields that aren’t automatically matched by LMSi. Check the “Upload the data?” option, then click process to update.
